Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 17 event was held yesterday evening. Four new iPhone models stood out at the event, and it was announced that some existing models have been removed from sale with this launch. Apple is focusing on the new series while reducing stock of older iPhone models in its stores.
The models phased out of sale after the event are listed as follows:
- iPhone 15
- iPhone 15 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
These models may be briefly available at retailers, but are no longer offered for sale in Apple stores.
The entry-level options, which continued to occupy a place at the beginning of the year with the iPhone 16e, will continue to receive regular updates. Additionally, with the farewell to the iPhone 15 series, the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max have been discontinued from sale; however, these devices can still be found at retail dealers and are no longer available in Apple stores.
The placement of the new series and models traditionally keeps two main flagship models in the lineup. In this context, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will remain on sale with a price reduction, while the new series will feature the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air prominently. For the Pro models, the change is as follows: the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be removed and replaced by the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Apple does not apply a price cut when pulling the Pro series from sale; it simply shifts to the new models. Which models are being removed? The models discontinued from sale after the September 9 event are listed as follows:

Apple tends to discontinue older versions with each new series.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 will replace the previous Ultra model, and on the AirPods side, the Pro 2 model may be retained; however, if a new AirPods Pro 3 is introduced, there is a likelihood that the current model will continue to be sold at a lower price.
