As leaks about the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem increase, director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa discussed the impact of this situation on players. Among the rumors that have heightened players’ curiosity, the possibility of playable Leon Kennedy is one of the most talked-about topics, but they stated that these are not confirmed at the moment.
Nakanishi mentioned that some of the leaks have a positive aspect. While some of these reports, which demonstrate players’ interest and attachment to the game, could be true, he emphasized that not every claim has a factual basis. He even made a notable comment: “We don’t need to produce fake leaks because they already exist enough on their own.”
Producer Kumazawa explained the biggest problem with leaks, pointing to players’ tendency to accept this information as real. If the leaked details do not find a response in the game, players can feel betrayed, which can negatively affect the experience.
In this context, it has been confirmed that Leon Kennedy will not be part of the Resident Evil film. Additionally, it was stated that the new horror mechanic is designed to interact with players’ emotions. Despite the leak-filled news surrounding Requiem, the development team aims to guide this aspect without disrupting the player experience.
