The company will scan both voice and text-based AI conversations under this new policy and show personalized content and ads by understanding users’ interests.
Meta will collect data from users’ AI interactions and deliver targeted advertisements
According to Meta’s statement, for example, if a user chats about walking with AI, the system will learn that they are interested in walking and will display relevant posts, friend shares, and ads. The new policy will take effect from December 16 and will cover everyone except users in the UK, South Korea, and the European Union. Users do not have an option to opt-out of this policy.
Meta AI acts as a ChatGPT-like chatbot, answering all kinds of questions from users and providing services in areas such as personal guidance, education, or agenda tracking. CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that over time, users may share much more information with AI, leading to more personalized platform experiences.
The company currently delivers targeted ads based on users’ shares, interactions, and connections. With the new policy, information obtained through AI will significantly enhance ad targeting and allow for more detailed analysis of user behaviors.
