The long battery life frequently demanded by iPhone users is becoming even more convenient with technological innovations, despite each new model. The new feature called Adaptive Power, introduced with iOS 26, aims to use battery consumption more efficiently. This system analyzes your usage habits with the help of artificial intelligence and predicts when extra power may be needed.
When the operation of Adaptive Power is activated, the device slightly slows down some processes to help conserve power. Screen brightness is slightly reduced and some background activities are limited. When the battery level drops to 20%, Low Power Mode is automatically activated. According to the information gathered so far, Adaptive Power makes more limited interventions; such as reducing CPU speed at certain intervals and slightly decreasing brightness.
Which models is it available on? The Adaptive Power feature is first activated by default on the latest iPhone models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. Although it is also available on iPhone 15 Pro and later models, you need to manually enable the feature on these devices.
How to enable or disable Adaptive Power? You can manage the feature by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app.
- Navigate to Battery > Power Mode.
- Turn the “Adaptive Power” switch on or off.
Additionally, Adaptive Power operates automatically throughout the day, and Apple offers users an option to receive notifications about this. You can turn on Adaptive Power Notifications to keep track of when the feature is active.
