The strategic partnership between OpenAI and NVIDIA aims to create a transformative momentum in the field of artificial intelligence. Within this partnership, NVIDIA plans to establish a system with at least 10 gigawatts of capacity to support OpenAI’s rapidly expanding AI infrastructure, and these massive investments will be gradually implemented in later stages.

The scope and volume of the investment are considered an open-ended commitment: OpenAI will benefit from NVIDIA’s power for training and operating advanced AI models. In return, NVIDIA plans to invest up to 100 billion dollars in OpenAI, and this process will progress gradually with the deployment of new systems.

A new era begins with the 2026 period and the Vera Rubin platform: the first phase will be launched in the second half of 2026 with the renewed Vera Rubin platform of NVIDIA. This platform stands out with the following striking features:

  • 8 exaflops of AI computational power
  • 7.5% higher performance compared to existing GB300 NVL72 systems
  • 100 TB fast memory
  • 1.7 petabytes/second memory bandwidth

Comments from leaders regarding the topic include NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stating, “This investment, which will carry the progress we’ve made with OpenAI over the past decade to the next leap in intelligence, marks a new milestone in the age of intelligence.” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized that computing power will drive the economy, sharing the view that this infrastructure will enable new AI breakthroughs and provide scaled power to people and businesses.

The details regarding the scope of the partnership and future collaborations are summarized as follows:

  • NVIDIA will be the priority infrastructure and network partner in OpenAI’s AI factory projects.
  • The two companies will optimize their software and hardware roadmaps together.
  • Additional undisclosed details will be shared in the coming weeks.

Additionally, OpenAI stated that this agreement complements their existing infrastructure partnerships with Microsoft, Oracle, SoftBank, and Stargate.
