It has been announced that the highly anticipated offline mode for Payday 3 will no longer be developed. Studio managers stated in a public statement that the current team capacity is limited and that priority has been given to the in-game progression system and core gameplay loops. With this decision, the game is designed to adopt a more live service-focused structure in its future plans. It was also expressed that delays and technical difficulties are more aimed at ensuring the continuity of the online experience rather than enabling the offline mode.
According to the announcement, Payday 3 is aimed to evolve into a modern live service game supported by routine updates and expansions in the future. The studio believes that this approach will improve user experience through quick feedback in the short term. However, this decision has also led to consequences such as the termination of many employees, including the cancellation of the Dungeons and Dragons project announced recently; approximately 44 employees were affected by these decisions. The company claims that these steps are expected to ensure positive cash flow by 2026.
