The Legend of the Last Stop is returning with a new film!
New Line has been waiting for a long time to announce who will direct the new film in the series after the success of Bloodlines. Released in May, Bloodlines topped the global box office at debut, achieving the highest gross among the six films in the series. The film grossed over 314.6 million dollars worldwide, with 138.1 million dollars from the US. The film has not yet been released in Japan. Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, who directed the previous film, did not return.
Lori Evans Taylor, who wrote the screenplay for Bloodlines, will also write the script for the new film. Franchise producers Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor will be involved in the project alongside Jon Watts and his wife Dianne McGunigle, as well as Toby Emmerich. Warren Zide will serve as a producer.
Final Destination was a surprise success for New Line in the early 2000s. Each film begins with the hero foreseeing a horrific disaster and managing to escape death. However, death, as an inevitable force of nature, returns and hunts down the survivors one by one. This simple yet effective concept kept the series popular for years.
