Behind the surface, there is a massive rock formation whose existence we do not know… Moreover, it is in a structure resembling a gate and in the midst of tall mountains… This image spread quickly on social media and brought the question, “Are aliens really among us?” back into the spotlight.
A video recorded in the Dzungarian Alatau mountains near the China border in Kazakhstan has recently been shared by thousands on platforms like Reddit and X. In the approximately 30-second clip, two explorers carefully progress on the snowy ground with a giant rock formation looming behind them. At first glance, the footage resembles a scene from a science fiction or adventure film.
In the video, which appears to be shot by a drone, this semicircular, towering rock formation rising in front of the explorers not only grabs viewers’ attention but also leads to countless speculations. The height of the structure is estimated to be about 12 meters compared to the explorers.
Gate or a natural formation?
Some Reddit users claimed that this structure could be one of the traces of “ancient aliens” on Earth. Some asked, “could there be a spaceship inside?”, while others likened this scene to the start of the first Tomb Raider game or the Doors of Durin in The Lord of the Rings series. There were even those who referenced Jabba the Hutt’s palace entrance from the Star Wars universe.
However, some viewers were more cautious. The rock behind the structure slants downward, which led some to think that even if this is a passage, it is unlikely to have a high-ceilinged space behind it. Some questioned the angle of the footage, suggesting that this formation might actually be just an ordinary cavity leading to the other side of the hill.
What could the truth be?
This impressive rock formation is likely part of the historic Door of Dzungaria. The region is known as an important pass spanning between China and Kazakhstan. This route, nearly 5,000 kilometers long, carries traces of migrations and incursions from Central Asia throughout history.
According to experts, such rock formations could be shaped by nature. The responses of different rock layers to wind, water, and temperature differences over time can create these symmetric appearances on the surface. In other words, the emergence of a “gate”-like structure could be entirely the result of geological processes.
