With the release of Horizon Forbidden West, it was a production that managed to make its name, especially in graphic terms. Although the game is generally talked about with graphics and gameplay mechanics, Horizon has a story that cannot be ignored.

In this article, I have written the stories of the characters who played an important role in the progression of the story of the game. Although we see and know these characters during the game, we can skip this part without having detailed information about the past or characters that some of them have. Thanks to this article, you can find more detailed information about the main characters that you may have overlooked in the game.

Who is Varl?

Who is Varl?

Varl is a warrior of the Nora tribe. Varl’s mother, Sona, is the War Chief of Nora, known for her steely will and tough temperament. His mother trained Varl to be a skilled hunter for many years. Vala, Varl’s sister, also follow in their footsteps.

Known as a militant sect, when Nora killed her youths, including Vala, Varl decided to team up with Aloy for revenge. The two have since formed a bond that feeds on mutual respect and shared values.

The two fought side by side in many battles, especially the battle of Guntepe, in which the rogue artificial intelligence known as HADES was defeated along with its shadows buried in the name of the eclipse.

When Aloy disappeared after the war, Varl went after him. Although Aloy was excluded years ago, the Nora tribe believes that Aloy is the “holy person” who will fulfill the will of the Goddess of the Great Mother. That’s why Varl takes on a spiritual responsibility that goes beyond friendship to help Aloy.

Who is Zo?

Who is Zo?

Zo comes from the Utaru tribe, whose main livelihood is agriculture. Once a peaceful soul, Zo was so appalled by the persecution he saw during the Red Invasions of the Carjas that he took up arms against them despite the objections of koro, the governing body of his tribe.

Seeking solace after the tragedy of the war, Zo dedicated himself to invoking. Zo thus tried to provide the care and comfort of the public. He also took on a character who did his best for the working Zo people to help those who contracted the disease take their last breaths peacefully.

When the Utaru fields succumbed to a catastrophe, their people were on the verge of starvation. Many put it in a sign that it was time to return to the ground as part of the great cycle. Zo, however, has struggled to accept such a bleak fate, although he respects Utaru traditions.

Aloy’s arrival gave Zo new hope and reignited the fire that had long since been extinguished so that he could fight for what he thought was right, no matter what the leaders of his tribe ordered.

Who is Elisabet Sobeck?

Who is Elisabet Sobeck?

One of the greatest minds of the 21st century, Dr. Elisabeth Sobeck was the creator and head of the Zero Dawn project. This system was a program that gave the future of life in the face of extinction.

Elisabet was born on March 11, 2020, and grew up in a town outside Carson City. He enrolled at Stanford at the age of 13 and graduated at 16 with a bachelor’s degree in experimental physics and computer science. In 2040, he completed his PhD in Robotics and artificial intelligence design at Carnegie-Mellon University, and in the same year he began working as an assistant scientist at Faro Automated Solutions. At the age of 22, he rose to the head of science.

Elisabet played a crucial role in green robot design during the “healing period” in Morocco for 10 years of environmental cleansing and detoxification efforts. In 2048, elisabet faro abruptly resigned from his job at Automated Solutions, protesting the company’s decision to switch to automated military technologies.

In 2049, Elisabet founded Miriam Technologies, a company dedicated to robots that “support life.” Miriam has become one of the world’s largest suppliers of green robots and has won numerous prestigious awards.

On October 31, 2064, our character had a secret meeting with the president of Morocco, Ted Faro. Faro told Elisabet that a swarm of self-replicating war machines that consume biomass for fuel has stopped responding to commands. Elisabet decided that life on Earth would be destroyed by this herd within a few days, and submitted the Zero Dawn project plan to the US chief of staff. Because this project was the only hope in the face of the danger of extinction.

Zero Dawn would in essence be an Earthization system designed to bring the bard earth to life long after humans became extinct. This system would be managed by GAIA, the most advanced artificial intelligence ever created. Elisabet also improved gaia’s emotional responses and made her care about the World, where AI would take responsibility. At Ted Faro’s insistence, he reluctantly incorporated gaia into the system the main hack, a tool to restore control over subordinate functions.

To save time for Zero Dawn against the impending swarm of invading machines, the joint task force launched its eternal victory campaign to draw millions of armed forces and civilians to the front line. The whole military campaign was built on a lie. According to the public, Zero Dawn was a super weapons program that would defeat the pack before it was too late. Millions of people died fighting with war machines unaware of the true purpose of the project, while Elisabet put his team in a desperate race against time.

In January 2066, the Faro outbreak managed to cross the last line of defense. Project workers moved to Elysium, a closed shelter where they will spend the rest of their lives. Elisabet and other project leaders chose to close the GAIA ONE facility to complete their work. However, although gaia one doors were a tightly locked facility, a small but significant gap in the main gate left GAIA ONE vulnerable and weak.

The detection of the gap in the GAIA ONE facility by Faro war machines would pave the way for failure and destruction. As the Faro herd approached, Elisabet sacrificed himself to repair the deficit from the outside. Elisabet made sure that GAIA was fully safe with this move.

Elisabet’s dedication and determination left a lasting mark on earth. When it had to self-destruct to avert another apocalypse nearly a thousand years later, the last thing GAIA did was create a clone of Elisabet in the hope that one day it would find a way to permanently stop the impending end and heal the Earth. That clone was aloy, the hero of our story.

Who is Ted Faro

Who is Ted Faro

Ted Faro, a world-renowned businessman and admiring egomaniac, was once featured in the media as “The man who saved the world.” He was also the one who brought the world to an end.

After leaving university in the 2030s, Faro founded Faro Automated Solutions, an engineering company that achieved success and fame thanks to the personal robot maids it produced. The company made its major breakthrough after including Elisabet Sobeck, who designed a revolutionary series of green robots that played an active role in reversing the damage caused by climate change.

Faro did his best to cost himself this environmental recovery, also known as the “recovery period”, which emerged in the 2040s. His achievements, including the launch of a highly effective personal augmented reality device called Focus, have not stopped. Faro expanded the company’s field of study to include the defense industry, which would later dominate the industry. Disgusted by Faro’s moves, Sobeck left the company.

In 2064, robots became immune to human control as a result of a malfunction in a Chariot herd. Designed to reproduce on its own and use biomass as an energy source, these machines now saw all life on Earth as a consumable fuel source. Global extinction is now inevitable.

Project Zero Dawn, albeit brutal, provided a solution to this situation. But Ted’s guilt over the robotic plague he created with his own hands ultimately led him to madness, which eventually took on the guise of a sublime spiritual change. He decided it would be better if nothing was known about the past, and especially his past role.

By entering the Zero Dawn system through a secret intrusion authority called Omega access authority, the subordinate function responsible for educating future generations erased APOLLO from the system. He also killed alpha project leaders who contributed to the development of Zero Dawn. Faro was confined to a secret bunker called Thebes, where he would spend the rest of his life in peace as the world disappeared with a few of his chosen comrades.

Who is Sylens?

Who is Sylens?

Little is known about Sylens, a wandering scholar, pir and warrior. Although he is said to have grown up in the North Banuk tribe, his past consists of a series of rumors, misunderstandings and conundrums. Which he supports. It’s true that as long as it remains unseen in the shadows, it can’t ignore the obsession with learning everything about the origins of humans and machines.

Sylens was the first to find a working seal. With him, he discovered the rebellious artificial intelligence HADES and negotiated with it. As part of Sylens’ deal, HADES would inform him, and Sylens would find him an ally in return. This agreement led to the establishment of the Eclipse, a cult of Shadow Carja fanatics who vowed to subdue their holy city, Meridian.

Hades then backed out of the deal and tried to kill Sylens. Shortly afterwards, Sylens learned that rogue AI had ordered Aloy’s death. Wondering why HADES wanted to kill a Nora, Sylens entered Aloy’s Seal and learned of his connection to the ancient world.

Knowing that Aloy was the key to uncovering the deep secrets of the past, Sylens joined forces with him and helped him learn the truth about his origins. To compensate for his role in the rise of HADES, he gave Aloy the spear he used to defeat evil artificial intelligence during the G√ľntepe Muahrabesi. Sylens mysteriously disappeared after the war. Although Aloy tried to contact him through The Seal, he did not respond in any way to Sylens Aloy’s calls.
