Game console prices in the USA have been revised again, and this change goes into effect on October 3rd. While controllers and headphones remain unchanged, only the new tags will be seen on console models.
Microsoft announced this update citing changes in macroeconomic conditions. While there is no change in prices globally, the following new sale figures will be applied in the US market.
The new prices are as follows: Xbox Series S 512GB – $399.99 (previously $379.99; launch $299.99), Xbox Series S 1TB – $449.99 (previously $429.99; launch $349.99), Xbox Series X Digital – $599.99 (previously $549.99; launch $449.99), Xbox Series X – $649.99 (previously $599.99; launch $499.99), Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black – $799.99 (previously $729.99; launch $599.99).
With these increases, an additional $20 has been added to the Series S family, while the total increase for Series X and Series X Digital is calculated as $50. The biggest difference appears with the Series X 2TB Galaxy Black model; compared to a previous increase of $130, the price increase in this version has reached $70, now being sold at $799.99. This situation appears competitive when compared to the 2TB version of PS5 Pro for some users.
Pricing adjustments continue across the gaming industry. Sony has increased prices for PS5 in some regions and also updated the US prices. Nintendo has delayed pre-order processes for Switch 2 in the USA due to some uncertainties and raised the prices of some accessories; they warned that further adjustments could be made later depending on market conditions.
Microsoft states that they are adopting a similar approach for Windows 10 64-bit users, focusing on balancing cost and performance in the gaming ecosystem. These changes will lead to higher costs for US consumers in the short term.
