The Yakuza Kiwami 3, announced with a new trailer, is coming back with a remade experience. Especially with enhanced graphics engine and expanded content, the fighting mechanics have been renewed to meet modern standards. The initial trailer and gameplay footage show that while preserving the spirit of the series during Kiryu’s era, it will offer an experience suitable for today’s players.
Although the game’s release date has not been finalized yet, it is planned to be available on February 11, 2026, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series. Players who pre-order will have the chance to see the first gameplay moments along with the announced trailer.
With the first gameplay footage of Yakuza Kiwami 3, we can clearly see what to expect in the world with redesigned graphics. The combat mechanics have been transformed, and smooth fights along with environmental effects have been updated to meet the standards of current games. Thus, the series’ main character, Kazuma Kiryu’s era, has been brought into a realistic modern experience.
As remembered, the third game was released in 2009. Our main character, Kiryu, after the previous events, tries to leave the mafia world behind and begins managing an orphanage in Okinawa. However, the peaceful life does not last long, and enemies reappear. Additionally, an independent content called the Dark Ties expansion will enrich the game, making the main antagonist Yoshitaka Mine playable as well. This will deepen the story of the conflict between Mine and Kiryu with details that extend beyond the main game.
In the storyline, the bonds between the Dojima family and Kendo will be examined more thoroughly through the relationship with Mine, adding new layers to the gameplay. It is also reminded that the Switch 2 versions of the previous two games in the series are planned to be released to players in November.
