With the Pixel 8 models, Google developed a tool that allows you to both carry an eSIM from your old phone and create a new eSIM over physical ones. eSIMs, which are becoming more widespread in our country and other countries, can be transferred effortlessly during phone calls.
Under normal circumstances, Samsung, for example, offered its own tool for phone installation. This enabled eSIM transfer only between Galaxy models. However, a user received a notification that he could transfer an eSIM from a different brand while setting up his Samsung brand device. This means that the Google tool is spreading silently.
A user transferred his eSIM from LG model to Samsung.
Google announced the feature in question, which you see above with the Pixel 8 Pro, in February 2023. And just like Samsung, this transfer was only possible between Pixel models. In the last case, a user who set up his Galaxy S24 Ultra received a notification that he could transfer an eSIM from a nearby LG V60 ThinQ model.
It is thought that this tool will also support non-Galaxy devices with the One UI 6.1 update, but unfortunately there is no official statement from either Google or Samsung. However, just by looking at this development specific to Samsung, we can say that Android manufacturers have switched to Google’s eSIM transfer application. This means that a fast and reliable transfer will be offered on the Android side.
The feature in question was only seen in users with a profile on the T-Mobile operator in Europe. Unfortunately, we are a few steps behind when it comes to eSIM. Since there is a lot of excitement about this technology, time will tell how it will be received in our country. What are your claims?
Speaking of S24 Ultra, let’s take a look at the device from our perspective.
