We know that South Korean technology giant Samsung, which we know not only for its high-quality smartphones but also for its high-quality screens, is strong in the television market in this respect. The company provides a fluent Android experience with these devices, which manage to satisfy users both visually and software-wise.
However, when we look at the latest developments, unfortunately we see that this fluidity will be somewhat interrupted. Because Google Assistant, which many users use to avoid having to deal with the keyboard, is no longer available on Samsung Android TVs. Moreover, it is not only removed from new models, but also from old ones.
But why?
This quiet separation emerged both with the absence of an assistant on 2023 model Samsung televisions and with the announcement on the Samsung support page. In this announcement, Samsung announced that the following models will lack Google Assistant:
- 2022 models
- 2021 models
- 8K and 4K QLED models coming in 2020
- Crystal UHD models released in 2020
- Lifestyle models released in 2020 (Frame, Serif, Terrace, and Sero)
The announcement said this was due to a change in Google’s elements. Google Assistant already came to Samsung televisions in 2020. When we look at it this way, we can see that it will be removed from every device.
Starting March 1, 2024, Assistant will be removed. What will users do?
Samsung recommends users to turn to other alternative assistants. In this context, either Bixby, which comes installed on the television, will be used or it will be necessary to turn to solutions such as Alexa. However, if you are a user who always uses Google Assistant or is used to it, you may not find what you are looking for in other assistants.
What exactly do you think happened between Samsung and Google?
