Kononenko, who stayed in space for more than 878 days and 12 hours, took the title from Gennady Padalka, another Russian cosmonaut.
Gennady Padalka achieved the record of being the “person who has spent the longest time in space” in 2015, with a duration of 878 days, 11 hours, 29 minutes and 48 seconds. Before him, no one had been in space for this long. Oleg Kononenko, who stayed in space for about 2.5 years, is now the new owner of this title.
