Foldable smartphones have been in our lives for about 5 years, and the design flaws and durability problems of their first launch have been largely eliminated. Today, almost all major smartphone manufacturers are releasing at least one foldable smartphone… Except for one: Apple.
Rumors about Apple’s foldable smart ‘device’ have been going on for years, and the patents that have emerged so far prove that its engineers are working on this subject, although we do not know whether Apple has developed a product for sure. We now have new information about Apple’s foldable devices.
First foldable Apple creation could replace iPad mini
The new information came from South Korean technology site The Elec, which has many sources on the supply chains of technology giants. According to the shared information, Apple requested 6- and 7-inch foldable screen samples from Samsung and LG last year. However, according to The Elec, Apple’s plans are to sell a 7-8 inch foldable device.
We do not yet know the features of the first foldable Apple device. We say device because it is not even clear whether Apple will launch an iPhone or iPad with a foldable screen. Considering the decline in iPad sales in the latest financial reports shared, we can say that it is not unlikely that Apple will come up with a foldable iPad mini to increase iPad revenues. According to The Elec, Apple is expected to launch its first foldable device in 2026-27.
